Our plan "B" in life Chilttepica!
Nobody can predict the future, but it is common sense to have a Plan B for those days when things do not go your way. Like a lot of people, I never gave serious thought. But shortly after joining the ranks of Golden Eagle in 2005, I read an article by Kimberly Clements that changed the way I looked at my future.
Ms. Clements’ article encouraged employees to elaborate a Plan B that could enable us to be prepared for the future. Coming from an entrepreneurial family, this was not a totally foreign concept to me, I just needed some motivation.
The next morning I talked to my wife Gloria and later that day the idea for a new product was born. Two years later we produced our first batch of Chilttepica Salsa.
Chilttepica is a combination of two words in Spanish: Chiltepín, which is one of the hottest (if not the hottest) chiles in the world, and the word Pica, which translates into English as hot, the kind of “hot” that instantly jumpstarts your tastebuds the way a flame ignites dry paper.
Our salsa or hot sauce is made of all natural ingredients and is the perfect companion for chips and the most elaborate dishes, which has made it the favorite of many Tucsonans.
But Chilttepica has proven so popular that it has traveled across state lines and even across the Mexican border. It has turned up in California and Caborca. Customers keep us up to date about recipes and new uses for it through Facebook. Our dream is to make Chilttepica grow, in the same way this experience has allowed me and Gloria to grow as individuals and business owners.
With this said, we are humbled to be able to use this space to let you know that we are in seven locations around town and will add one more at the end of May. Please try our salsa and give us your feedback. We will really appreciate it. You can also visit us at www.Chilttepica.com for more information.
Last but not least, we would like to thank Ms. Clements for planting the seed and we would like to encourage other employees to take advantage of the education and training opportunities given to us. You too can put your Plan B to work.
